The Story
Notes on a journey
Every song I make begins somewhere quiet. This is just a little summary of my music journey:
-
I · The Playground
As a child, I’d sing softly to myself on the playground to feel less alone. Music quickly became my way of soothing my mind.
-
II · By Ear
At five, captivated completely by my music teacher, I begged my parents for a piano. I got a small keyboard and taught myself to play by ear as I was worried that lessons would take away the joy of playing.
-
III · The Wednesday Guitar
When I was eight, my school teacher taught us guitar during playtime. One by one, my classmates drifted off, but I couldn't stop. She left me a pile of Beatles and old folk scores, and I spent the entire summer playing them. Eventually, I started formal training to polish my technique, studying classical guitar, piano, violin, and voice.
-
IV · Between the Pages
I started a quiet youtube channel where I would post covers and original songs. One day, inspired by the fantasy novel The Name of the Wind, I sat at the piano, recorded how I imagined the book's music sounding, and shared it in case someone else might want to hear.
-
V · The Other Side
To my surprise, that shy channel began to grow. Over the years, it has connected me with a community of wonderful listeners and amazing collaborators. All because I decided to share my music, not expecting much from it.
-
VI · The Present and Future
When a health struggle made singing too painful, I recorded "Life's Numbers" as my secret farewell to music. Instead, the universe intervened. The song was featured as a show outro, earned an award nomination, and marked the exact moment my health finally began to turn around. I took the hint. I'll carry on ❀
